OUR SITES
Project Literacy has two in-person sites: Watts for K-12 students and Venice for adult English-learners; and one virtual site for K-12 students.

VENICE, Tuesdays 5-9PM
Project Literacy's Tuesday adult site is located at Venice High School. Tuesdays are unique in that we work with adult ESL students on reading comprehension and fluency; we work with the same group every week, allowing us to watch them grow, becoming more and more confident every week in their reading and writing skills. Working through short story books and packets, our adult learners spend time reading out loud and working on vocabulary, reading comprehension, and other important skills.

WATTS, Saturdays 9AM-1PM
Our Saturday site is located at the Alma Reaves Woods - Watts Branch Library. Here, we work with a variety of ages and grade levels, with the majority being elementary and middle grade students. At Watts, we spend a great deal of time working with many different resources, including but not limited to learners' own homework assignments, our curriculum, or the books in the library! As this site is located at a public library, learners become extremely enthusiastic about reading. With the large number of books available, there is something for everyone, and learners take pride in picking different books to read each time!

KIDS VIRTUAL SITE
For those who can't make it to any of our in-person sites, we also offer virtual tutoring via Zoom! Our virtual site offers flexibility for both tutors and tutees, where we work one-on-one with a learner for the duration of the entire year, and even subsequent years, allowing us to watch our learners grow and even graduate! Many of our online learners grow extremely passionate about reading as they work one-on-one with tutors who encourage them to find reading fun, whether that be in their assigned readings or in books of their choosing. Every week is a new adventure for our virtual learners, as our activities of the week are dependent in part to us, who prepare short educational activities, but also in part to the learners themselves, who bring to us any homework or reading they'd like assistance with for the week!
